Helping Hands Ministry / Food Pantry

Helping Hands has three ministries that help families in North Mentor with various needs.

 

PANTRY

Our Pantry is partnered with the Cleveland Food Bank and offers qualifying households a selection of food under the federal poverty guidelines. Pantry hours are by reservation on Saturdays from 9:00 am to Noon.  Clients should call 440-257-5544 x119 to make a reservation before coming to the Pantry. Food or money donations are most welcome.  Contact: MartyCrews@yahoo.com.

 

OFFICE

Help Line - fields calls from prospective clients Monday thru Friday. Potential clients are in need of housing and other financial assistance, such as an eviction and shut off notices. Office also guides callers to other resources that may be available. Meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Our goal is to help our clients become self-sustaining.  Contact: John.Misch@gmail.com.

 

ST. JAMES FOOD KITCHEN

Prepares, serves and performs other kitchen duties six Sundays per year.

 

OHIO BENEFIT BANK

The Ohio Benefit Bank is closed.  Please contact Lifeline (Painesville, Ohio) at 440-354-2148.

 

SPECIAL EVENTS

Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday Baskets are packed and distributed each year. Contact the Food Pantry for dates.

Angel Tree - Each year during Advent, Christmas trees are set up in the Gathering Space of the church and decorated with Special Cards that contain a request for gift cards (WalMart/Giant Eagle) or one can donate cash or check payable to St. Bede and the Helping Hands ministry will purchase gift cards for the family and/or children.  Additionally, the General Fund of Project Hope for The Homeless is supported.  Checks are written directly to Project Hope and dropped off at the Parish Office or in the collection basket.
