The Sacraments of Initiation

The Sacraments of Initiation - Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist lay the foundation of every Christian life.  The faithful are born anew by Baptism, strengthened by the Sacrament of Confirmation, and receive the Eucharist, the food of Eternal life.

Baptism

Baptism is celebrated on Sundays at 12:00PM or by appointment.  Parents are required to attend a Pre-Baptism class for their first child.  The class is offered as needed.  Please call the Parish Office at 440-257-5544 to register.  Arrangements for Baptisms are made by calling the Parish Office at least one month in advance.  For Adult Baptism see RCIA

Confirmation

Candidates are ninth graders and up who have been baptized and received their First Communion.  Letters of invitation are sent in the summer informing prospective candidates of the activities that begins in the fall.  Confirmation is celebrated in the spring.  If you do not receive a letter of invitation, please contact the Parish Office by August 15.

Monthly meetings will take place on Sunday evenings in the Youth Ministry Room in the Church. A retreat day is also a part of the program.

 Adult Confirmation

We find that very often adults in their twenties and thirties were never confirmed as children or teens and desire to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation as an adult.  There is a regional six class series that meets early January thru February at St. John Vianney Parish.  Classes are usually held on Sunday afternoons. Registration is required.  Interested individuals should call our Parish Office by January 1st.

 Eucharist

The Sacrament of Eucharist is first given to our second graders after extensive preparation in our Parish School of Religion beginning with Grade One. For children who are in Grade Three or above see RCIC. Adults wishing to prepare for the sacrament, see RCIA.
