Group Details

We are an organization of Catholic men, whose foundation is based on the principles of Unity, as a Catholic lay society; Charity, to those in need; and Fraternity towards fellow Knights. The principle of Patriotism was later added to reflect the love of one’s Country.

In 2005 Fr. Tim met with several men from our parish.  They decided it was time to establish a Knights of Columbus Council here at St. Bede’s. Our Council was dedicated on March 14, 2005 and has grown to 80 members strong.  Over the past several years our council has been very active supporting the parish, the Lake County community, and the church trough charitable works.

Although we have accomplished a lot since 2005, we still need new members with new ideas to keep our Council growing and vibrant. To become a member you must be 18 years of age, male and a practicing Catholic in good standing.  You do not need to purchase a cape, sword, or regalia of the 4th degree to be a member of our council.  If interested in joining us, please contact the Parish Office and leave a message for the membership director.

The St. Bede the Venerable council is a very active group of men who are making a difference.  The following is a summary of our Council’s activities:

The council supported Father Ed Suszynski and Father Anthony Suso during their time at the Seminary and we are currently helping two seminarians attending the major seminary.  We have sponsored the Men’s Retreat, a Religious Devotion Night and the 24 hour Rosary for the unborn child.  We have raised over $4,000 this year for a toal, over the past several years, of over $60,000 for the Deepwood Foundation to help developmentally disabled children.  We have also supported the Society for Rehabilitation, Lake County Right to Life, Project Hope, the Red Cross and other groups within the Lake County community.

Our Council is also involved in supporting many of our Parish’s Ministries, for example, RCIA, Boys and Girl Scouts, the Youth Group, Altar Servers, St. Vincent DePaul, and Handmaids of Mary.  Each year we have raised over $3,000 to help the parish food pantry.  We have also been a part of many projects for the Parish including the installation of the flag pole and rewiring of the kitchen in the Father Tulley Center.

Our Council is not just all work and no play, we have also enjoyed wine tasting trips, Captains games, family cook-outs and our annual Christmas Party.
